前回の記事の続きです。
PALAKKADで迎える一日目の朝。
「街」であるトリバンドラムと比べると交通量も少なく、見える景色はひたすら田んぼ。
どうりで朝の空気が爽やかなはずです。
My first morning in Palakkad. Comparing to a city like Trivandrum, the air is fresh and sunshine shining purely on me. Surely this is relaxing.
今日はどこに行くんだろう…わくわくしながら車に乗ります。
同乗するのは友人夫婦とお兄さん夫婦の奥さんと赤ちゃん。
途中でお兄さんの仕事場に立ち寄り、お兄さんも合流。
わいわい賑やか、でもマラヤラム語が分からない…ああもどかしい(^^;
I wonder excited where we are going today entering the car. My friend and his wife, his brother's wife and son are accompanying. Friend's brother just finished duty so we went to the police station where his office is, to pick him up.
しばらく車を飛ばしてたどり着いたのは、森の中にある清流。
これがひんやり冷たくて、とんでもなく澄んでいました。
山道を汗を垂らしながら歩いた後だったので、なおさら癒されました。
水面を見るときれいな色の魚がわんさか泳いでいます。
After a while driving, we reached a place in the middle of a forest with a clear stream.
Since it was a humid day, the coolness and clear water helped me refreshed a heap.
I wasn't able to take pictures, but there were tons of colorful fishes swimming around.
住民がいる模様。
There is a resident over there.
ここで皆でしばし涼みます。
記念撮影！素敵なご家族ですね。
I took a family picture of them. Cheese! Beautiful family they are.
清流を後にして、次は山道を更に登っていきます。
この一帯は警察官であるお兄さんの管轄地域のようで、パトロールも含めて（？）お兄さんが道行く住人の方々に挨拶をしていました。
Next, we started walking towards the top of the mountain.This area is a jurisdiction of the brother's. Everyone greets him on his way.
猿！
The monkey seems to be greeting him as well.
謎の植物。毒持ってそうでなんか気味悪いです。
This looked like a plastic toy rather than a plant. Looks toxic.
友人、ヒルの餌食に。でも慣れたもので「写真撮って！」とせがまれました。
My friend became a prey of a leech but he was so calm asking me to take a picture.
途中の清流で再び涼みます。
友人夫婦が遊び始めました。可愛い～（*^_^*）ごちそうさまです！
We took a rest at another stream on our way. My friends started playing with the water. Such a cute couple they are!
挨拶をしている最中に思いついたのか、この山の先（頂きに向かう途中）には、少数民族（？）が住んでいるから会いに行こう！とお兄さん。
本来は立ち入ることが出来ないエリアだけど、お兄さんの管轄地域だから特別に入れるとのこと。
でもこの道のりが思った以上にハードでした。
途中までは民家がポツポツと道沿いにあるお陰で比較的歩きやすい道が続きます。
しばらくすると分かれ道が出現し、弟がこっちから行ったら近道じゃないか？と指差したのは急勾配の山道。
インドに来てビーサンで山道を登る経験をすることになるなんて…楽しすぎる！
ちなみに私以外も皆サンダル、お兄さんに至っては裸足です！
皆で草がうっそうと生い茂る中をひたすら登ります。
初めはわいわい喋りながらだったのが気づけば皆黙々と登っている…各々必死です。
が！頑張った甲斐がなく、途中で行き止まりに…え、なんで？(^_^;)
お兄さんが確かめてくる、と言って来た道を引き返します。
待っている間、皆でバナナをほおばる。皆汗だく、ぐったりです。
どのくらい待ったかな、結構な時間がたった気がします、お兄さんが戻ってきました。
なんと！私たちが登ってきた道は行き止まり、例の少数民族の暮らす場所には辿りつけないそうです。
というわけでむなしく引き返します。
ちょっと残念だったけど、こんなハプニングも面白くて不思議と嫌な気持ちにはなりませんでした。
We decided to visit one of the minority tribe living near the top of the mountain which is usually a prohibited are for people to enter but because it was an area my friend's brother looks after, we are able to, my friend told me. However, on our way there, we got lost in the middle of a steep slope of the mountain. We found out that the road doesn't lead to their residing area and decided to give up. Well, I was a bit upset for not being able to meet them, but still it was a fun journey indeed.
